Another Gun Bill Headed to the Floor in Des Moines!

Big news! HF-924 might get a full House vote next week!

HF-924 lowers the age for law-abiding Iowans to possess and carry a handgun from 21 back down to 18. That’s right, back in 2010, the Democrats jacked up the age from 18 to 21, as part of the Shall Issue law that was passed.

HF-924 puts that right again, and it’s way past time.

Here’s the kicker: the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision slammed the door on these age-based restrictions. It’s unconstitutional to deny someone their Second Amendment rights just because they’re under 21.

And it’s not just the Supreme Court. The 8th Circuit, which includes Iowa, backed this up last year in a Minnesota case.

They said the same thing: 18-to-20-year-olds have the right to bear arms. It’s time Iowa law went back to 18.

Think about it.

An 18-year-old can join the military and risk their life for our country. They can get married, pay taxes, hold down a job, and build a life. But they can’t carry a handgun to protect themselves?

That’s nonsense!

If they’re old enough to die for freedom, they’re old enough to exercise it.

This bill is sponsored by Representative Steve Holt (R-Dennison) who has been the floor manager of basically every gun bill to pass the House over the last five years!

(Rep. Steve Holt and me in the Capitol. Holt is the lead sponsor of HF-924 and is a relentless voice for gun rights in Iowa!)

HF-924 isn’t some radical idea; it’s common sense rooted in our Constitution. But it won’t pass without YOU stepping up.

So, hit that email link we’ve got ready and tell your State Representative to vote YES on HF-924. It takes a second, and it could change everything.
