Next week will be a big one in the fight for gun rights here in Des Moines. Please read this short email and take action!
Based on what we know right now, we should see three or even four pro-gun bills on the floor of the Iowa House next week. And that includes two of our priority bills, HF-945 and HF-924.
We’ve been telling you about these bills for a while now.
HF-945 provides significant upgrades to our Stand-Your-Ground law by allowing us to have a pre-trial immunity hearing and clarifying that we have civil immunities as well!
HF-924 allows Iowans aged 18-20 to possess and carry a handgun and the ability to apply for a concealed carry permit. Democrats raised the age to 21 here in Iowa in 2010, it was always a dumb thing to do. Now the courts agree.
Both of these bills passed the Judiciary Committee 17-4.
But the full House is a tougher hurdle, even though it’s controlled by a whopping 66 (soon to be 67) Republicans.
That’s why you need to send TWO PRE-WRITTEN EMAILS today urging your State Representative to VOTE YES on both of these bills!
>>> TELL YOUR REP: VOTE YES ON HF-945! <<<
>>> TELL YOUR REP: VOTE YES ON HF-924! <<<
Again, you need to hit both buttons and send off an email on both bills to make sure your State Representative knows you want him/her to vote yes on both bills.
The schedule is Des Moines is always fluid. When we get an exact date for floor action, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Iowans voted for big changes last November; tell your State Representative that HF-945 and HF-924 are part of those big changes!
