Pour It On Them: Tell Des Moines to Pass HF-945!

Great news!

Thanks to a lot of grassroots pressure from gun owners like you, HSB-213 has moved out of the Judiciary Committee by a vote of 17-4 and is now eligible for a vote in the full House!

As a result, the bill has been renumbered to HF-945.

Now the hard part begins.

While we have massive GOP majorities in both chambers — the biggest in decades — there are some members who simply don’t want to vote on gun bills.

That’s why it’s vital they hear from you, gun owners in their districts. Please send your pre-written email to them now.

As you know, our Stand-Your-Ground law may have been good enough when it was passed in 2017. But times have changed.

We now have vengeful prosecutors in office right here in Iowa, backed by George Soro’s money. And if we dare to defend ourselves, they will try to put us in prison.

It’s happened before.

House File 945 — sponsored by gun rights champion Steve Holt — would upgrade our Stand-Your-Ground law in several ways that are all badly needed.

First, it would establish a process to assert our Stand-Your-Ground law protections in a pretrial hearing. Right now, we can only use Stand-Your-Ground on appeal. That’s way too late.

Second, it would make establish immunity from criminal charges the follow a defense use of force shooting as long as that force was lawful.

Third, that immunity would specifically cover you in civil court too to prevent you from being bankrupt with bogus legal fees. These suits are very common, and very expensive.

Passing this legislation would give major protections to gun owners. And with the bill having already cleared sub-committee and the full committee, it’s now ready for a vote in the House.
