Here in Iowa, we’ve gotten used to starry-eyed Democrats like Deidre DeJear running for Governor, laughing when she lost the race to Kim Reynolds in 2022 by a margin of 58% to 39%.
But State Auditor Rob Sand — the presumed Democratic nominee in the race to replace Reynolds — is not Deidre DeJear.
Sand is different. He’s dangerous. And he could actually win.
When he holds campaign events he begins by playing ‘America the Beautiful.’ He quotes the Bible. He even talks about how he owns two handguns.
Why?
Because he knows that gun control loses elections in Iowa — and he’s trying to trick gun owners into thinking he’s on our side.
But make no mistake: Rob Sand is the most partisan hack to ever sit in the Auditor’s office. And if he becomes governor, he will sign into law the entire Bloomberg gun control agenda:
>>> Red Flag Gun Seizures — allowing government agents to confiscate guns with no due process.
>>> Universal Background Checks — criminalizing private sales between law-abiding Iowans.
>>> Deadly Safe Storage laws — forcing you to lock up your firearms in your own home.
And it’s not just us saying that Rob Sand is a significant threat. The Cook Political Report just downgraded Iowa from “Solid Republican” to “Leans Republican” as we approach 2026.
Don’t forget: President Trump won’t be on the ballot next year. It’s hard to predict the effect that will have in the elections, especially in a state the previously went for Obama twice!
Sand is already building a massive fundraising machine, boosted by his personal wealth and national donors.
The Wall Street Journal is writing feature stories about him, warning Republicans that he’s the kind of Democrat who can actually win in a red state.
Meanwhile, the current crop of Republican candidates are not exactly firing up the voters, creating the exact opening Rob Sand is looking for.
Iowa Gun Owners has fought and won battles to pass Stand-Your-Ground and Constitutional Carry. Together, we’ve defeated bill after bill pushed by gun-grabbers in Des Moines.
But if we don’t expose Rob Sand’s record and warn every gun owner in Iowa, we risk watching all of our progress be undone in one election.
