We normally don’t email you late on a Friday. Most people are wrapping up their work week and heading into a busy weekend.
But last Friday was different. With the House passing SF-2263 late Thursday — which included our language to ban Red Flags here in Iowa — we had to tell you as soon as we could.
But the legislature is set to resume session in about an hour, in one of the final weeks of the session.
And this is where things get dangerous.
Because now this bill is back in the Senate.
And this is the same Senate that already killed our stand-alone ‘Red Flag’ ban earlier this year in the Judiciary Committee — with help from the Iowa Firearms Coalition.
We know Senate moderates are looking for a way to do this again.
Right now, Senate leaders have three options:
>>> Concur with the House language with a simple majority vote and send the bill to Governor Reynolds.
>>> Strip out the ‘Red Flag’ ban, giving the Democrats what they want and send the rest of the bill back to the House.
>>> Do nothing and let the bill die through inaction.
A “no” vote — or hiding behind inaction — is a direct attack on our Second Amendment rights, and every Senator needs to know that gun owners will remember that in the primary election.
Time is running out in this legislative session, and the window to get this done is closing fast.
That’s why you need to act right now.
TELL YOUR SENATOR TO BAN RED FLAGS IN IOWA!
Our system will deliver your message directly to your State Senator based on your address. To make sure your Senator hears you loud and clear, hit the Send 3X button to email him three times over the next three days.
We’ve already seen what happens when the Senate tries to quietly kill this bill behind the scenes.
We cannot let that happen again.
With the legislature going back into session this morning, we need to keep the pressure up.
Send your message right now and make sure your Senator knows exactly what you expect of him.
For Iowa,

Aaron Dorr
Chairman
Iowa Gun Owners
P.S. Last week the Iowa House voted to ban Red Flags. Now the Senate gets to decide whether to pass it — or kill it. Contact your Senator now and demand they send this bill to Governor Reynolds.
