Any day now, I expect a loud knock on our office door.
A slick anti-gun government lawyer — armed with trumped-up legal complaints from Michael Bloomberg-backed gun control organizations and their pals in the General Assembly — will be grinning from ear-to-ear as he tells me, “See you in court.”
When I first started Iowa Gun Owners I thought things like this didn’t happen in America . . .
After all, Iowa Gun Owners plays by the rules. We don’t break laws, or even bend them, like so many other organizations.
But by now you’ve seen the news regarding the IRS targeting of over 400 conservative and pro-liberty organizations over the past few years.
And in any critical election year like 2016, gun-grabbers here in Iowa are going to use every tool at their disposal to shut me up ahead of the November elections.
That’s why, as you’ll see, I’ve attached a brief three-question Iowa Gun Owners’ Member Ballot for your review.
I hope you’ll fill it out and submit it to me immediately, more on that below.
The truth is, I simply must have your advice right away.
As it stands right now, I do not have the funds to fight back against all the legal assaults we’re likely to face — AND run a full election year program — at the same time.
So Iowa Gun Owners will be a sitting duck unless I can fix this problem — FAST.
The fact is, IGO has seen more than its fair share of legal assaults in the past.
In fact, one anti-gun state legislator even falsely accused IGO members of sending death threats!
Another threatened to sue me personally, as well as this organization, because we reposted a Facebook picture of her with drunken anti-gun legislators and told our members these were the folks who helped derail our pro-gun bills!
Last year, angry City Council members in Eastern Iowa pledged to sue us out of existence because we exposed and ultimately crushed their effort to ban guns on city property!
Sadly, I’m afraid this kind of nonsense just goes with the territory.
And worse, it’s all designed to get good folks like you and me to stop “bothering” our “poor politicians.”
That way they can whittle away at our most cherished freedoms without ever having to worry about answering to the voters back home!
I’ve never, ever believed that’s the way politics should work — not for a second. I still believe politicians work for us, not the other way around.
That’s why I started Iowa Gun Owners in the first place.
Without organizations like Iowa Gun Owners out there to call politicians to the carpet for their records, I shudder to think how many MORE of our freedoms would have already been tossed by the wayside.
Since Iowa Gun Owners’ formation, we’ve beaten back every one — EVERY ONE — of the gun-grabbers’ assaults.
We’ve also brought concealed carry reform and Stand-Your-Ground to the forefront of Iowa politics, leading to the passage of “shall issue” in 2009.
After we ran a major statewide campaign exposing the gun-grabbers in Des Moines in 2010, the anti-gun Democrat majority went down in flames at the ballot box.
Even with the Republican Party’s dismal performance nationwide in 2012, every one of Iowa Gun Owners’ pro-Second Amendment champions were reelected in the last election.
And in 2014, after the gun-grabbers’ mad rush for gun control after the horrific Newtown tragedy, BILLIONAIRE anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg’s top ally in the Iowa Senate, Daryl Beall, went down in defeat.
This was the State Senator gun-grabbers picked to introduce all of their top gun control bills!
That’s why they want to shut you and me up so badly ahead of November 2016.
If they can shut IGO up as a political force, there could be no stopping the gun-grabbers’ radical agenda for Iowa, including:
*** STATEWIDE GUN REGISTRATION UNDER THE GUISE OF UNIVERSAL “BACKGROUND CHECKS.”
As a former cop, I can tell you the only way such a scheme can be enforced is if the government keeps records of every gun and gun owner. And as you and I know, registration is just the first step toward CONFISCATION;
*** SO-CALLED “MENTAL HEALTH” LEGISLATION.
Laws already exist to prevent those who are adjudicated as unstable from owning firearms. What the gun-grabbers really want is the ability for some bureaucrat to check a box in an ObamaCare database — just because they don’t like your race, religion or politics — and you lose your gun rights forever!
*** A STATEWIDE SO-CALLED “ASSAULT WEAPONS” BAN.
It’s already been widely discussed among the gun-grabbers here in Iowa. In fact, they introduced this in the House just last year.
Should anti-gun Democrats regain their majority, it won’t be long until they go all-out to ban guns they call “assault weapons” — starting with semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and even handguns.
That’s why our 2016 election year program has never been more important.
In fact, until just a few days ago, my hope was to run the biggest program in Iowa Gun Owners’ history leading up to the November elections — using mail, emails, Internet ads, and even hard-hitting newspaper, radio and TV ads if I could raise the money to pay for them.
But I’m afraid, as it stands right now, I won’t be able to fund both a full-scale legal defense AND this election year effort.
I know we’ve done nothing wrong. But I can’t imagine just sitting back and hoping I don’t run into an anti-gun judge or prosecutor in the courtroom.
I have to prepare for the worst — or else, we could be a sitting duck.
So I need you to tell me what to do:
- OPTION #1
Should I ignore the legal threats, hope nothing bad happens, and go all-in with a full-scale election year program?
- OPTION #2
Should I just give in to the gun-grabbers, cut off all of Iowa Gun Owners’ election year programs and put all my focus into these frivolous legal threats?
But if I choose this option, I know I’ll just be emboldening them to try it again and again in the future.
- OPTION #3
Or should I FIGHT BACK on all fronts and keep my legal and election year programs running at full blast?
I know what I want to do. But I don’t have millions of dollars sitting around in the bank like Michael Bloomberg and his pals.
Iowa Gun Owners is run on a shoestring budget.
OPTION #3 just really isn’t an “option” without a massive and IMMEDIATE influx of funds from Iowa Gun Owners’ members and supporters.
Some of you are able to make a major investment in this fight of $250, $500 or even $1,000 – as some of you already have.
For others, I know that $25, $50, or $100 represents a sacrificial gift.
But the stakes couldn’t be higher. Anti-gun legislators in the legislature simply must be held accountable to killing Stand-Your-Ground and Constitutional Carry legislation!
With the November elections right around the corner and critical races heating up, I need to hear from you right away.
Thank you, in advance, for whatever you can do!
P.S. Any day now, I expect Iowa Gun Owners to come under legal attack!
The gun-grabbers are going all-out to shut you and me up ahead of the November 2016 elections.
I have some very critical decisions to make in a matter of just a couple of weeks, and I need to hear from you right away.
