An 18-year-old can join the military and risk their life for our country. They can get married, pay taxes, hold down a job, and build a life. But they can’t carry a handgun to protect themselves?
That’s nonsense!
If they’re old enough to die for freedom, they’re old enough to exercise it.
Passing this legislation would give major protections to gun owners. And with the bill having already cleared sub-committee and the full committee, it’s now ready for a vote in the House.
This isn’t just about guns; it’s about freedom, the American way, and telling the politicians that ‘We the People’ still run this show.
House Study Bill 213 — sponsored by gun rights champion Steve Holt — would upgrade our Stand-Your-Ground law in several ways. What’s more, the bill has already passed sub-committee!
There is no excuse for our Republican delegation to ignore this bill given all of the abuses that gun owners have experienced at the hands of the ATF.
Dozens of states have already put these protections in place to protect gun owners from liberal prosecutors like…but Iowa has not. This means we’re all vulnerable if we must defend ourselves.
Having so many pro-gun judges on the bench has made this the best time to fight for gun rights in Federal Court in our lifetime.
The latest example is out of the Fifth Circuit, where the court is taking a direct shot at current Federal law that makes it a crime for 18-20 year old’s to buy handguns.
IGO’s legislation would enhance Stand-Your-Ground law, ban ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures,’ and enact the Second Amendment Preservation Act! But only if the legislature takes action.
While we have accomplished a lot in Des Moines over the years, there are big goals that remain.
The question is, will our massive Republican party majorities (majorities that gun owners like you and me created) pass these important bills — or will they continue to say they have done enough for gun owners?
