The elections last month flipped a switch for the Democrats in Des Moines. They aren’t hiding their agenda anymore. They aren’t pretending. They aren’t talking in code.
They’re going all-in on the most deranged gun control push we have ever seen in Iowa.
The Iowa Democratic Party is out with a list of bills they want to see advanced in the legislature next month. Just a few of the bills they are calling for include:
►► Mental Health Exams for Every Gun Sale.
They want gun owners to beg for permission from a pink-haired “mental health professional” before we can buy a firearm. This isn’t about safety. It’s about control — and about letting Iowa’s woke activist class decide who is “allowed” to own a gun.
►► A Total Firearms and Ammunition Registration Plan.
Under this scheme, buying a box of .22 shells at Ace Hardware would require government approval. Every gun, every round of ammo, every transaction — all tracked in a government database.
►► A Repeal of Stand-Your-Ground Law.
IGO fought like hell to pass this in 2017, and the Left has hated us for it ever since. Now they’re openly admitting that repealing it is back on the table for 2026.
►► A Permanent Ban on AR-15s and 30-round Magazines.
These rifles are the modern tools of self-defense for millions of Americans, which is exactly why the Democrats want them outlawed. Without them, Iowa becomes a disarmed, compliant state.
►► Mandatory Civil Liability Insurance to Own a Gun.
Their newest idea might be the most insane: requiring $1,000,000 in liability insurance just to possess a firearm. If you can’t afford the insurance, you lose your rights. And that is precisely their goal.
This is who we are dealing with.
Today’s Democratic Party isn’t proposing “reasonable restrictions.” They are waging an all-out war on gun owners because they hate the fact that we can still say “no” to them.
