Every election season, Republican politicians suddenly become “pro-gun champions.”

They all say the right things. They all claim to support the Second Amendment. They all promise to fight for our gun rights.

But here at Iowa Gun Owners, we’ve learned something over the last twenty years: Words are cheap.

That’s why IGO surveys candidates and demands that they put their positions in writing before elections take place. And with the June 2 GOP primary for Governor rapidly approaching here in Iowa, we’ve surveyed every GOP candidate running for Governor.

The results were interesting.

But there’s also a serious problem that gun owners need to understand before this primary takes place.

Because one of the candidates running for Governor has a long history of telling gun owners one thing during campaign season…and doing something very different once safely in office.

The future of gun rights in Iowa will be shaped by this Governor’s race for years to come.
