Last session in Des Moines, Iowa Gun Owners and our members came very close to plugging the holes in our Stand-Your-Ground law.
House File 945 passed the Iowa House with almost 90 votes, meaning we had most of the Democrat’s support, too.
And then it was killed in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
That’s why this matters right now.
Despite what some politicians claim, our self-defense laws still have holes that allow liberal county attorneys to prosecute gun owners who acted in lawful self-defense.
That’s not theoretical.
That’s Iowa law as it exists today.
In this short video, I will explain the gaps in current law and what we are doing to fix it.

As you just heard, Iowa is missing the core protections that many states already provide to gun owners. Our enhanced Stand-Your-Ground law would:
>>> Grant gun owners the presumption of innocence
>>> Create a pre-trial immunity hearing process
>>> Protect us from being arrested without cause
>>> Clarify criminal and civil immunity
Here’s how you can help us finish what we started:
- Watch and share the video so gun owners understand what really happened with HF-945
- Sign your official petition supporting Enhanced Stand-Your-Ground
- Chip in a donation to help Iowa Gun Owners keep pressure on the legislature
We were close last session. Now we need to finish the job.
More updates coming soon. Keep a close eye on your inbox.
For Iowa,

Aaron Dorr
