Nine State Gun Rights Organizations Oppose Obama-Style Gun Control Proposals!

On election night in 2016, gun owners saw their dreams come true as Hillary Clinton was defeated and President Trump was elected, thanks in no small measure to the tireless efforts of grassroots gun owners.

After eight years of fighting with President Obama’s Administration to defend our gun rights, many gun owners assumed that 2017-2020 would be our chance to go on the offense in Washington D.C.

That is why the membership and leadership of the undersigned organizations are outraged about the recent talk coming out of the White House indicating support for Barack Obama-Style Gun Control!

We are opposed to ALL forms of gun control including those being proposed by the left-wing national media, Soros / Bloomberg-funded organizations and politicians, AND President Trump himself.

The following proposals being floated are tops on the “wish list” of the gun control lobby.

We are opposed to the following:

*** Banning Bump Stocks

*** Raising the age from 18 to 21 to buy so-called “assault weapons” or other rifles and firearms

*** New “mental health” mandates that would entrap and disarm countless numbers of innocent Americans

*** Feinstein’s “NICS FIX” legislation

*** Expanded federal background checks

*** Banning so-called “assault weapons”

The horrific shooting in Parkland, Florida once again highlighted the fact that more government databases, lists, and controls will NEVER stop a mad man intent on harming innocent people.

Government is to blame in Florida, not Second Amendment supporters and gun owners whose rights are in danger from the above proposals.

At minimum, five main government failures were exposed last week:

  1. The shooting occurred in a federally-created “gun free zone.”
  2. Guns were “banned” at the school.
  3. The FBI was alerted to the shooter and his desires on at least TWO occasions, and have admitted they failed in following up properly.
  4. Local government authorities visited the shooter’s home 39 times responding to domestic issues since 2010.
  5. The shooter passed a FBI government background check when purchasing the firearm used.

It’s plain to see that government is not the solution to stopping mass shooters.

Arming teachers and administrators, hardening and protecting our schools, educating students, teachers and administrators in ways to protect themselves if a shooting occurs in their school, etc. are the solutions.

As President Trump mentioned yesterday in his listening session, police officers generally take 5 to 8 minutes to arrive in response to a shooting.

If anything is to be done, the focus should be on school safety, not expanding gun control, which we know will never work.

Even more importantly, with the 2018 midterm election fast approaching and the 2020 election not far on the horizon, Second Amendment supporters, most of whom make up the base of the President’s grassroots support, will abandon this President if he pushes Obama-style gun control through the Congress or through executive action.

Giving the left what they want is a recipe to depress your base and have voters sit at home.

The nine undersigned organizations will oppose and mobilize our members and supporters against ALL gun control legislation coming out of the White House and in Congress.
