Who’s Hiding From Gun Owners in the 3rd Congressional District?

“Since our recent email regarding Senate GOP primary candidate Mark Jacobs’ refusal to answer the Iowa Gun Owners candidate survey questionnaire, we’ve been flooded with calls, emails, and Facebook messages from gun owners wanting to know about other races.

If you live in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District or have friends in this district – this email is for you.

This GOP primary is a very crowded field with 6 candidates vying for the nomination on June 3rd.

And as you may have seen, it seems like everyone is trying to rush around claiming to be the most pro-gun candidate.

But where do these candidates really stand? After all, lots of anti-gun politicians carry guns. Shucks, Diane Feinstein has a handgun as well as a concealed carry permit.

Owning guns, even carrying a gun, does not mean you’ll FIGHT against gun control, much less FIGHT to advance pro-gun legislation.

And as you and I know, talk is cheap, especially when it comes to politicians.

That’s why Iowa Gun Owners surveys candidates in the first place – to see who’s the real deal and who’s just talking the talk.

Sadly, in this race, several candidates are simply REFUSING to get on the record on where they stand on the 2nd Amendment.

As of this moment, Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun are not willing to sign a candidate survey.

Will these candidates work to stop Bloomberg’s push for a Universal Registration law in D.C. if elected? Will they join with other pro-gun legislators to stop any attempt to ban so called “high cap” magazines that function just like normal magazines?

Will they actually champion the 2nd Amendment and sponsor bills?

Or, are they planning on going to Washington D.C. to work behind the scenes with the gun-grabbers?

Sadly, when candidates won’t come clean on their real views regarding our gun rights, that’s often the case.

I wish I knew where Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun stood on these critical issues so that I could report back to you, but they are all simply refusing the get on the record.

And the gun-grabbers in D.C. couldn’t be happier.

You see — especially after the defeat gun-grabbers were given in D.C. last year by grassroots gun owners — they know they can no longer depend solely on anti-gun Democrats in Washington (not that all Democrats are anti-gun.)

If they’re going to succeed in cramming Bloomberg’s radical gun control legislation through the Congress, they’re going to need some Republican legislators whom they can “work with.”

And as we’ve seen, even just a handful of weak-kneed Republicans can be enough to KILL even the most crucial pro-gun reforms.

That’s why they’re going all-out to browbeat politicians on both sides of the aisle into supporting their anti-gun agenda — or at least remaining silent.

And that’s why Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun’s flat-out REFUSAL to answer their candidate surveys is so troubling.

The good news is that Republicans Robert Cramer, Joe Grandanette, and Secretary of State Matt Schultz have ALL answered our survey 100% in favor of our Second Amendment rights, including their:

*** Opposition to a Universal Registration law – which would make you a criminal for simply passing on your firearms to your children or grandchildren without first being added to a government list;

*** Opposition to anti-gun mental health expansion – over 140,000 military vets have already lost their gun rights simply by being declared defective by a ‘mental health professional’ without due process in a court of law;

*** Support of repealing the federal “gun free zones” law – the only people stopped by these insane laws are the law abiding parents, teachers, and school staff who may be able to save lives if given the option of self-defense.

What’s more, Robert Cramer and Matt Schultz have signed our gun rights leadership pledge wherein they have agreed to SPONSOR pro-gun legislation as a United State Congressman.

Simply put, these guys have promised to FIGHT for the 2nd Amendment!

The fact that these candidates were willing to put their views in writing – while Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun are refusing – makes me downright angry.

Last year saw one of the most ferocious attacks on our gun rights at the federal level that we’ve ever seen. Republicans and Democrats alike were coming after our gun rights.

That’s why we need pro-gun champions and leaders sent to D.C. who will fight for our rights!

So it’s vital that we don’t let some campaign ad or a cheap website throwaway line about gun rights sway us. Like I said above, talk is cheap, especially when coming from a politician.

That’s why I’m counting on you to help me turn up the heat!

Right now, while these candidates are crisscrossing the district looking to scoop up votes, is when they are most likely to listen to the voters.

Please don’t delay in contacting these candidates TODAY and demand that they sign the survey from Iowa Gun Owners so that you and I know where they stand!

You can reach Monte Shaw’s office at (515)645-9655 or you can email him at [email protected].

David Young can be reached at (515)996-0325 or [email protected].

Finally, Brad Zaun’s campaign number is (515)689-0829 and you can email him at [email protected].

While you’re at it, contact Republicans Robert Cramer, Joe Grandanette, and Matt Schultz and thank them for pledging 100% support for our Second Amendment rights.

And if you can, I’d really appreciate it if I could count on your generous support for the Iowa Gun Owners Candidate Survey Program.

Whether you can give $250, $100, $50 or $35, every dollar you can give will be a tremendous help
.

But whether or not you can give, please contact these candidates IMMEDIATELY.

That’s most important.

For Freedom,

Aaron Dorr
Executive Director

P.S. The June 3 Republican Party primary is fast approaching.

In the 3rd Congressional Primary three candidates have pledged 100% support for the 2nd Amendment: Robert Cramer, Joe Grandanette, and Matt Schultz.

Sadly, despite our repeated calls to their campaigns, Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun have refused to tell us where they stand on the 2nd Amendment.

Now is the time to pour on the heat on these candidates! The last year or two have proven that we need congressmen who will FIGHT for the 2nd Amendment – not just put up one liners on their websites.

So please, email and call Monte Shaw, David Young, and Brad Zaun IMMEDIATELY, (using the information above,) and demand that they fill out their gun rights candidate survey right away.

Please also consider chipping in $250, $100, $50, or even $35 to help Iowa Gun Owners get the word out to as many pro-gun Iowans as possible about where the candidates stand on the 2nd Amendment.
