Riots, Looting, and Fire in Iowa!

If I would have told you last week that we were days away from seeing hundreds of violent thugs mobbing the Iowa Capitol, being pushed back with tear gas and flash bang grenades by State Troopers, you wouldn’t have believed me.

But the events of the last 96 hours have been unprecedented in modern history here in Iowa.

From Mason City to Des Moines to Council Bluffs to Sioux City to the Quad Cities — Iowans have seen our peaceful streets turn violent overnight with riotous mobs.

For many Iowans, the last few days have shown them what most gun owners have always known: at the end of the day, the government cannot be counted on to defend your family!

Due to the hard work of Iowa Gun Owners members, Iowa passed Stand-Your-Ground law in 2017, providing critical legal protections to gun owners who are forced to defend themselves.

But that doesn’t do a lot of good if you don’t own a gun.

And our office has been hammered with calls and emails from Iowans over the last 48 hrs, begging to know how they can buy a handgun for self-defense for the first time.

(The Iowa Capitol was awash with tear gas and flash bangs Saturday night, as State Troopers battled with close to 1,000 violent protesters who were mobbing the Capitol.)

But when I explain the process — the classes, the delays, the permitting, the fees — many Iowans can’t believe it.

They are right to be frustrated.

After all, when you see the Antifa thugs rioting on Main St in so many Iowa towns right now, it seems a little bit insane that law abiding Iowans are unable to carry a gun to defend themselves, doesn’t it?

But , the legislature is coming back into session on Wednesday, which means that they still have a chance to pass Constitutional Carry law before final adjournment for the year!

And that’s why it’s urgent that you send your PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL to your state legislators tonight, making sure they know that you expect action on Constitutional Carry now!

You see, all over the state we are getting reports of law abiding gun owners who stood guard over their businesses and public buildings last night.

In Council Bluffs, dozens of gun owners protected the Pott Co. courthouse from destruction while this gun owner was the only thing between his Merle Hay Rd business (in Des Moines) and a crowd of thugs bent on destruction.

(This gun owner used his rifle to make sure that his business wasn’t destroyed by violent thugs on Merle Hay Rd in Des Moines last night.)

So the question is, will the Iowa legislature stand up for law and order and law-abiding gun owners who are being forced to defend themselves from violent thugs, or not?

Our neighbors in South Dakota and Missouri have Constitutional Carry, they don’t need to worry about government paperwork when their safety is threatened.

Law abiding Iowans shouldn’t have to, either!
