The Iowa Gun Owners membership rally is only ten days away!
Already, over 800 Iowa gun owners have reserved their free tickets and have made plans to attend this event!
As you have likely heard, this is going to be a jam-packed event for the entire family, including:
>>> A machine gun range where you can test-fire full auto firearms for a fee;
>>> Political updates from Iowa lawmakers;
>>> An overview on the Second Amendment battle in D.C.;
>>> A small arms range for beginning or new shooters;
>>> A pair of bounce houses for the kids to play on.
We are also going to have a huge tent (with tables and chairs) for you to relax in over lunch -– or to hide out under in the event of rain or excessive heat.
The specific details for this event are below.
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Location: Sure Shot Range, 1777 55th St, Mt. Auburn, IA
In order to have the most enjoyable day possible there are a few things that you may want to bring along with you.
First, make sure you bring along some cash.
The machine gun shoot is a separate entity from us and there is a cover charge to get in and then you will pay based on what you shoot. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.
Second, bring your favorite camp/outdoor chair for the keynote speaker.
This is an outdoor venue and you’ll want to sit down for parts of it throughout the day.
Third, bring some eye and ear protection.
There will be some limited protective gear available at the small arms and machine gun pit during your actual range time, but for standing in line you may want to protect your ears.
Fourth, depending on the weather, you may want to bring some sunscreen.
It’s Iowa, in June, so the weather will likely change every day between now and next Saturday, but it could be hot.
Fifth, whatever food and non-alcoholic drinks you want to bring along.
We are going to have a food vendor on site, so if you want to buy lunch or drinks there you may, but you are also free to bring your own refreshments along.
Below is our Gun Rights Rally FAQ section, for lack of a better phrase, to answer some of the more common questions that we are receiving from you.
Q #1 Can I open carry at this event?
A #1 Umm, heck yeah!
Q #2 What is the cost for the machine gun shoot?
A #2 There is a $15 cover charge to enter that portion of the event, and then you pay based on how much you want to shoot. $10 will get you one mag on a basic firearm (think full auto Glock.) $100 will get you a belt on the M249, a mag through an M16, a mag through an AK47, and a mag through a Tommy Gun. So it all comes down to what you want to shoot.
Q #3 Can I buy any firearms at the event?
A #3 No, there will be no gun sales at this event.
Q #4 Do I need a permit to shoot firearms?
A #4 No.
Q #5 Do I need to be a member of IGO in order to attend?
A #5 No, but you can certainly join up at a discounted rate during the event!
Q #6 Can I attend even if I’m from out of state, or is it only for Iowans?
A #6 Anyone can attend, even Minnesotans! 😊
Q #7 Can I shoot a water cooled mini gun while flying around in a helicopter and blow up an old pickup with tracer rounds at dusk?
A #7 Not this year. 😊
Finally, if you are not yet a member of Iowa Gun Owners and you can’t make it to our event to join up in person, please take a moment to sign up today.
